The Goblin Kingdom was slowly settling back into its usual patterns of ebb and flow. Sarah’s studies and regular duties had also resumed, but she was also appreciating getting back the time she got to spend in the studio as a way of clearing her mind.

Bishop and Angel were proving to be more than just her rescue guardians, they had become firm friends who she clicked with in a manner that would have surprised her if she didn’t know that it was the Labyrinth at work. If she thought too much about the pair of them being selected for the task centuries before she was born, she would start to quietly freak out until one of her companions, or the Labyrinth itself, would reach out to ease her concerns.

Knowing that her time with Angel was limited before she would need to return to her life Above, Sarah and Bishop were taking advantage of her availability and their evenings had been spent together discussing future ceramics projects. They had been steadily filling notebooks with ideas for glazes, decorations, designs and future collections. It was a free flowing creative collaboration that Sarah had not realised had been missing from her life.

With Erich under similar time constraints to Angel, Sarah had noticed that Jareth and Rook were similarly ensconced with the man, no doubt having similar discussions around their metalworking projects. Although, she did note that their gatherings often drifted into indulging in the library’s vast media library.

Their film viewings had a disturbing propensity for devolving into the juvenile behaviour more suited to teenage boys. The memory of walking into a wall of stench and peals of maniacal laughter, after unintentionally disturbing a farting competition, still brought tears to her eyes. She hadn’t smelled anything that evil since her childhood dog had eaten a large rawhide bone one afternoon and happily tortured the family by leaving a noxious cloud of burnt rubber in his wake all evening. She had no idea what they’d eaten, but was fairly certain she now knew what powered the Bog of Eternal Stench.

When she dropped by she was always hoping to catch them in a more musical frame of mind. Even with Rook’s mediocre warblings and Erich’s pronounced flair, Jareth’s impressive vocal talents would weave around the tune and elevate it into something that always made her heart clench.

Smiling as she set her notes aside, Sarah settled back on the lounge with her guardians to indulge in their guilty pleasure of telenovelas. Angel’s love of the genre had soon drawn her more than willing victims into heated debates over the interconnected plot lines and whether a longing glance was going to bloom into a relationship or crash into rapid fire screaming and thrown objects. Bishop rescued a bowl of popcorn before Angel could upset it in her annoyance at a surprise twist and Sarah laughed with her friends at the onscreen antics. It was a delightfully normal way to end her day.
