Word Count: 464
Drabble:

I blinked hard. “You’re telling me its contract is up for renewal and it doesn’t want to be renewed? It wants to transfer?”

Jareth’s expression was decidedly bemused. “Yes.”

“The Bog. Wants to transfer.”

“Yes.”

“To another kingdom it feels ‘better supports it needs’.”

“Its words, yes.”

I tilted my head to the side, trying to see what I was missing. Nope. Didn’t see it. “Um...maybe we should let it?”

Jareth’s features were doing their best carved-from-marble imitation.

I looked pointedly at him. “I mean, I know it’s been a...powerful presence here and all, and it’s certainly contributed to our defenses. But hasn’t it caused...well, endless aggravation?”

He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. “It might have.”

“And maybe it would be happier in...where did it want to go?”

Jareth’s lips twitched in an unreadable expression. “Middle Earth, apparently.”

“Middle Earth?! It thinks it’ll be happier in Middle Earth?”

“It’s convinced Middle Earth has the ‘infrastructure’ to allow it to do what it enjoys doing more easily.”

“Which is what exactly?”

“It didn’t specify. But apparently it’s been talking to some landscape features over there — it didn’t come out and say Mount Doom and Angband, but one does suspect — and they’ve been telling it ‘good things’.”

I snorted. “Well. We should let it go. We’ll all be happier, it sounds like. Or at least you and I will. How long is a contract for anyway?”

“Usually one to five epochs, locally-defined.”

“We should definitely let it go. One to five non-Bog epochs here sounds delightful. Even if Feanor would miss dropping random objects into the Bog and giggling.”

“True. I doubt any other denizens would object. Didymus said his formal farewells ages ago after the incident with Fireys and the third bridge.”

“And there we go. Problem solved. Now, is that the only thing you came in here for?”

Jareth blinked. “Did you have other ideas?”

“I might. Feanor’s taking a nap, after all. Carpe nap-em.”

“‘Nap-em’ definitely isn’t proper Latin.”

“I have some very particular ideas about other things that are far more important for you to care about right now.” I leaned forward and smiled pointedly. “They involve my mouth, your mouth, and lots of skin.”

Jareth’s eyes glittered as he moved towards me. “Ah. Well. Perhaps we should explore those ideas of yours together.”

I lifted my mouth to his, my breath ghosting against his lips. “You’re such a sensible man, even if you are a Faerie monarch. I’m so glad I married you.”

“And I you, Sarah. Now, about those ideas?”

“Oh yes. Let’s….discuss. Non-verbally.”

He nipped my bottom lip, pulling it gently between his teeth.

And there were lots of suggestions after that, not a one of them involving words.
